Meet MDT

Founded by Loyce Houlton in 1962, Minnesota Dance Theatre (MDT) is the longest running ballet school in Minnesota. MDT has nurtured and inspired countless dancers, including the late pop icon Prince. MDT’s company and school played a vital role in shaping the cultural foundation of Minneapolis.

In August 2024, Lauren Post, former ballet dancer with the American Ballet Theatre, assumed the role of Director of MDT. Joanna Mednick, former ballet dancer with Dutch National Ballet and San Francisco Ballet, joined as Artistic Associate in 2025.
