Katie Deuitch

Ballet Austin | MDT Alumna

Originally from St. Paul, Minnesota, Katie Deuitch began her training at Minnesota Dance Theatre under the direction of Lise Houlton. As an apprentice at MDT, she performed works by choreographers such as Loyce Houlton, Lise Houlton, Elliot Feld, and Emery LeCrone. Deuitch was invited to continue her training at the School of American Ballet in 2014. She danced in SAB’s annual Workshop, appearing in Jerome Robbins’ Fanfare and George Balanchine’s The Four Temperaments. Deuitch was involved in SAB’s Choreographic Institutes, originating roles in pieces by Dana Genshaft and Peter Walker. 


After graduating, Deuitch participated in Ballet Austin’s apprentice program from 2016 to 2018 before her promotion to the company. Since her promotion, Deuitch has danced in works by Jessica Lang, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, Amy Siewert, Stephen Mills, Jennifer Hart, Thang Dao, and Septime Webre. Her notable classical roles include Odette/Odile in Stephen Mills’ staging of Swan Lake, Aurora in Sleeping Beauty, Sugarplum in The Nutcracker, as well as soloist and principal roles in George Balanchine’s Rubies and Serenade. She has also danced featured roles in contemporary works such as Siewert’s Traveling Alone and Renaissance, Lang’s Zig Zag and Garden Blue, and Mills’ Light: the Holocaust/Humanity Project, Belle, and the pas de deux in Desire. 



Deuitch is also a member of the contemporary company Performa/Dance, and continues to teach at the Ballet Austin Academy. Deuitch will be teaching all levels during all Weeks 1 and 2 of MDT’s 2025 Summer Program.
