Petrushka with the Minnesota Orchestra
March 28, 29, 31/April 14, 2012 @ Orchestra Hall

Celebrate the 100th anniversary of Stravinsky's ballet masterpiece Petrushka in a new, fully choreographed production featuring the Minnesota Orchestra as part of their Young People's Concert series and Target Free Family concert. These performances will take place at Orchestra Hall in downtown Minneapolis, just minutes away from The Cowles Center. Don't miss this chance to see two of Minnesota's finest, nationally renowned artistic companies performing together in this fantastic setting.

Petrushka

Petrushka is a story of a Russian traditional puppet, Petrushka, who is made of straw and with a bag of sawdust as his body, but who comes to life and develops emotions. According to Andrew Wachtel, author of the book "Petrushka: Sources and Contexts," Petrushka is a work that fuses music, ballet, choreography and history in perfect balance, evoking Richard Wagner's Gesamtkunstwerk (total artwork), but with a distinctly Russian approach.
