Development Director

Minnesota Dance Theatre & the Dance Institute (MDT&DI), a non-profit professional dance repertory company and school, seeks full time, Development Director.

MDT&DI creates masterful and provocative dance performances which entertain and inspire audiences and foster talent by providing a comprehensive classical and contemporary training curriculum focused on the technical and artistic demands of a professional dance career.  The vision of the organization is to be an exceptional dance company and school and to be the source of great regional pride and international acclaim.

Duties:

  • Create and implement a development plan in conjunction with strategic/long range plan.
  • Identify, cultivate and solicit prospective government, foundation, corporate and individual donors; generate proposals, budgets and other related materials in support of these activities.
  • Manage calendar of solicitations.
  • Identify and research prospects.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with donors and volunteer leadership.
  • Grow funder base through identification, cultivation, and solicitation of new prospects.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key funders.
  • Coordinate solicitations and acknowledgements made by volunteers and staff.
  • Report to funders in a timely manners on MDT&DI programs, activities and special projects.
  • Provide leadership and support to the development committee of the board and serve as the staff advisor to other board committees as may be needed.
  • Recruit and support volunteers in planning and executing events to raise funds, cultivate prospects and acknowledge donors.
  • Represent the company and the school in the larger community.
  • Team with Artistic Director and Executive Director on special events, newsletters and other communications.
  • Presence at various night and weekend events.

Required Knowledge, Skills:

  • Fundraising, personal solicitation, direct mail, telemarketing, volunteer management, written proposals, cause-related marketing, etc.
  • State and Federal fundraising laws.
  • Computers proficiency.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the local funding community.
  • Passion for the arts!
